You need the following hardware and operating system software to run Deep-Sky Planner:
- PC with 32 or 64 bit edition of Windows 8.1 or later including the latest Windows Updates from Microsoft. Deep-Sky Planner runs on Windows 7 but it is not supported on Windows 7.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
- 1 GB RAM for 32-bit edition of Windows or 2 GB RAM for 64-bit edition of Windows
- Installation requires about 532 MB of hard disk space
- DirectX 11.2 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver with minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
- CD-ROM drive (if installing from CD)
- a pointing device (mouse) is recommended but not required
- Internet connection is recommended for updates and some product features, but is not required
- Serial port is required for SQM-LR or telescope/DSC connection
- Ethernet port or wireless NIC is required for SQM-LE connection
